- We start at 4pm, Friday 13th September, 2024 at the Argyllshire Gatherings!! Welcome drinks & Ice-breaking games, hosted by our lovely crew. So if you arrive solo, you won't be solo for long!
- We think it's often easier to make new friends over dinner, so we've given you some options with our hosted meals:
- Hosted meals with budget options to 3 course fine dining. (Essential pre-booking options are out now. Please check your emails from Outsavvy or email obanlesbianweekend@gmail.com if you have are a ticket holder who hasn't booked)
- Live Music & DJ's.
- Our own ceilidh band.
- Acclaimed Scottish entertainer, comedian & DJ, KAREN DUNBAR, as our host for the weekend.
Our hosted meals are a fantastic opportunity to meet new friends and get to know each other ahead of the big weekend!
OUR WOMEN'S CEILIDH WITH ARDMHOR CEILIDH BAND!
- Come & dance with every LGBTQ+ woman in the room, without even having to ask for a dance (that's the nature of partner swapping in ceilidh dances!)
- Our ceilidh has been a highlight for the last 3 years!
- Our ceilidh caller will teach you the Gay Gordons or how to Strip the Willow in style, so get your dancing shoes packed for a fun night!
- Our ceilidh is partnered with LEAP SPORTS, who aim to help LGBTQ people access sport & exercise, as we believe a ceilidh is a great way to help you all socialise and have fun, while exercising.

Coming Solo?
- Thinking of coming solo? About 70% of women book to come solo but are never solo for long once here!
- We understand that it can be nerve-wracking, so we have a fantastic, friendly crew and many other ways to help you mingle.
- On the Friday evening, we have some ice-breaking games at our solos social.
- Group dinners are a big part of OLW, as it's can be much easier to meet new friends in a small group over dinner, than in a crowded bar - and Oban has fantastic seafood, vegan food and budget options.
- Many love the fact that we split into smaller groups for hikes and workshops, so it's easy to meet people.
- Our LGBTQ+ women's ceilidh makes it easy to meet people, as ceilidh's give you the option to get up and dancing with lots of people without even having to ask.

KAREN DUNBAR, OUR MAIN HOST & DJ!

We are privileged to announce Scottish entertainer, comedy actor & DJ, Karen Dunbar, as our main host for OLW25!!
-
Karen will be hosting our opening night and closing cabaret party, bringing us her comedy humour. Karen is DJing on our friday night & will get you dancing to all the best floor fillers from the last 4 decades.

Karen Dunbar is one of Scotland’s best-known comedy actors. Starting off in the sketch show Chewin’ the Fat, she then went on to star in her own show, The Karen Dunbar Show, which received 4 Golden Rose nominations.
- Karen recently won a BAFTA for her role as Finlay, in the Scottish game set on a rig, Still Wakes the Deep.

Karen has trod the boards in everything from Glasgow Panto to West End Classics, performed Burns, Shakespeare, stand up and DJ-ed in New York and Ibiza, and opened the 2014 Commonwealth Games in front of one billion viewers. From Oran Mor to the National Theatre, Karen has captivated audiences with mix of comedy, music and acting talents.

NICOLE FARADAY - SINGER & BAD GIRL!
- Nicole Faraday is a singer and award winning television, film and theatre actress best known for her portrayal of Snowball Merriman, the glamorous murderess in two series of ITV's smash-hit television series BAD GIRLS, currently available as a box set on ITV.
- She is also familiar as former series regular Dr Heather Lincoln in BBC's CASUALTY, and most recently as man-eater Veronica in ITV's EMMERDALE.
- Nicole originated the role of Shell Dockley in BAD GIRLS-THE MUSICAL with a successful run at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and subsequently Garrick theatre for which she won the award for Best Supporting Performance at the prestigious TMA awards 2006, and was a nominee for best supporting actress at the WOS Theatregoers Choice Awards 2007/8.
- She performed at the awards at the Lyric Theatre and features on the original West End cast album and DVD of BAD GIRLS-THE MUSICAL.
- BAD GIRLS fans will be delighted as Nicole hosts a BAD GIRLS prison themed Q+A workshop at Oban Lesbian+ Weekend. Nicole has also performed at many prides and is coming straight from performing at the Spanish lesbian festival, ELLA,to Oban Lesbian+ Weekend to sing at our closing night’s show.
REBEL DYKES FILM CLUB 2023

In 2023, Oban Lesbian Weekend screened BAFTA Scotland nominated REBEL DYKES on Sunday afternoon as party of our film club (dir. Harri Shanahan and Sian A Williams).

We were very excited to have REBEL DYKES producer, Siobhan Fahey on crew to be sharing the documentary with you. As well as the main feature film, and especially for Oban Lesbian Weekend she will be showing you extra Rebel Dykes mini films, 90 seconds to 15 minutes long, as part of our workshop.
These were the stories that couldn’t fit into the finished film, from, stories too shocking for the main movie!

REBEL DYKES is the story of a group of lesbians in London who partied hard and fought even harder for LGBT rights in the days of the AIDS crisis and Section 28. Great tunes, great animation, and a lot of sex!

JANE DOES COMEDY!
- We are very excited to announce Jane Postlethwaithe! Jane is a Northern Queer Stand Up Comedian and Writer. She's a regular on the LGBTQIA+ comedy scene.
- She's been heard on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Cumbria. She's had sell out shows at Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe and the Women in Comedy Festival. She was recently a British Comedy Award Finalist and her show “Terrible People” was nominated for the “Big Gay Award” last year at Brighton Fringe.
- Jane has a Paranormal Queer Comedy podcast called “All the Terrible Things” where she talks to queer people about their spooky stories. She is currently working on her new stand up comedy WIP show, “Bone Idle”.
- She has a loyal fanbase on social media from across the World as she makes relatable LGBTQIA+ comedy content videos with 80k TikTok and 15k Instagram Followers @JaneDoesComedy

DJ SANDRA D & ALABLASTER QUEEN, 2023
DJ Sandra D & Alabaster Queen have been the highlight at pride events, Lfest, Unity Fest, Femme Femme Fest and across Uk queer clubs over the last 20 years.
Those of you old enough will remember DJ Sandra D from her residencies at legendary London clubs, POPSTARZ, GHETTO, RUBY TUESDAYS AND CANDY BAR. Since moving to Manchester, she's been on the decks again and is a regular at Manchester Pride.
Alabaster Queen has been likened to Annie Lennox, Grace Jones and Joan Armatrading with her soulful rich, powerful vocals. She is the ex Lead Singer of the Spins and will have you singing and dancing along for Oban Lesbian Weekend's closing party.

DJ Trendy Wendy is an Edinburgh LGBTQ icon, and fast becoming an Oban Lesbian Weekend icon!
Many of the Scottish ladies amongst you will know Trendy Wendy from Edinburgh's pink triangle and DJing at many events across Scotland.
Trendy Wendy does so many different genres of music. Last year she made sure that we didn't leave the dance floor early. Every tune was a hit!
